Because he sings along a lot of the time, and if he had a mic you might be able to hear him...

Just kidding, mostly.
Jimmy is a GREAT drummer.
If he sang like Don Henley or Levon Helm I suspect that he would get a mic.

Jean, do you know something we don''t know? Inside information? Does Jimmy really sound like Barry Manilow?

No inside info. I just think if Jimmy wanted a mic , Webb would give him one. Webb is a pretty nice guy.

Jean, you're sure right about Webb. They must have a mutual agreement about that mic thing.
I recall seeing Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen many years ago...the lead singer, Billy C, must have wanted to play guitar in the band. No problem! They gave him one, but no strings. There he was, plugged into an amp, strumming madly away with no strings.

As it happens, I work with Jimmy's sister in law, Delores. While riding on the elevator with her this morning, I mentioned this thread. Here's what she said: "Have you ever heard him sing? I've known him for 30 years, and believe me you don't want him to have a microphone."

So, TommyLee, you're right..

Thanks, Glen!
I should note that I frequently sing along at concerts and nobody is EVER gonna offer me a mic.

I was rewarded for NOT SINGING at one concert. It was a Govt' Mule show in Columbus. The guy who records for them at their shows set up a microphone stand by our table ( our table was on the next level up from the mosh-pit area) and the mic was right in front of my face. I promised the guy I would not lean over and sing into the mic during the show if he'd mail me a CD of the show afterwards. I gave him a business card. I never expected to hear from him again but three weeks later, I received three CD's of the show in the mail. Only then was I glad I had not sang into the mic!

You know the last time I was at the Down Home with Tater - all the other folks at the table were giving him cash.... now I know why... they were paying him not to sing...LOL.
