I'll be joining the Long Players on this one Saturday night. here's the word from head LP, Bill Lloyd:

The Long Players are back again at 9PM on AUGUST 9 at the Mercy Lounge playing an album thats been on our to-do-list for ten years: The Rolling Stones 1968 classic Beggars Banquet.

Our band loves The Rolling Stones. The first album we ever played was a Stones album (Let It Bleed) and weve also performed Sticky Fingers, Exile On Main Street and Some Girls. With the Stones, theres a lot of good choices.

Produced by Jimmy Miller and recorded by Glynn Johns, Beggars Banquet was a musical return to the blues after several albums of rocking but slightly psychedelic pop. With iconic tracks like Sympathy For the Devil, Street Fightin Man, No Expectations, Stray Cat Blues and Salt of the Earth, it was the first in a string of albums that defined the classic Stones sound.

The graffiti-wall cover album cover art created some controversy and the US version had a more stark approach (ala Beatles white album).

We have a fantastic lineup for our live presentation of Beggars Banquet. Guest artists alphabetically: Dan Baird, Joe Blanton, Jonathan Bright, Jace Everett, Steve Forbert, Warner Hodges, Raelyn Nelson, Salar Rajabnik, Scott Sax, Webb Wilder and Leticia Wolf.

The Long Players are Steve Allen, John Deaderick, Steve Ebe, Bill Lloyd and Garry Tallent with help from Peter Hyrka and Paul Snyder.

For this coming Saturday's Rolling Stones/Beggars Banquet gig, The Long Players have designated a portion of the proceeds to go to Soles4Soles.

Sounds like a really cool gig.

Any idea if you'll be singing lead on any of the tunes? I think you'd sound particularly good on "Parachute Woman".

Lots of fun. Did "Parachute Woman" in the first set and "Live With Me" in the second. On the LP shows, the first set is the album being paid tribute to and the second set is various selections by the featured artist. Encore was a big ol' group sing on "Satisfaction." Good to see, sing and play with a lot of friends old and new. WW

Sounds like a really good time. I wish we could have been there. My brother's band used to do both "Parachute Woman" and "Live With Me". I'd request "Parachute Woman" for WebbFest IX, but we won't be attending that one. Maybe you can save it for your next trip between the Potomac and the Mason-Dixon Line.

Bip a little, bop a lot.
