Having an insatiably curious admaven as a fan may have a downside...If overstepping, sorry. Seeing is important. Wearing glasses isn't, and the credo remains legit. Saw video of you struggling at 30A with your tuner, hence, the following. Bifocals are nauseating...options could be:
1) Lasik: great docs in Nashville, you could get 'tour ready' with your new CD release and perhaps allow them to use you as a spokesperson, assuming you're happy and willing. It's not the same as selling soap. Saw poster for TLC/lasik featuring a female jet car driver - doesn't compare to a new CD from the fully grown man. And the promotional upside of having a poster in dozens of retail outlets...well, it could be a good thing.
2) Multifocal glasses: Tough it out. Hold the hand of your sweetheart and walk around Green Hills for 3 hours following the first wearing and you'll be delighted with the results. Buy her some lovely boots from Suzani and she'll be delighted.
3) Multifocal contact lens: I wear Air Optix and they're great. Never a single problem - and I had never worn glasses nor contacts until a couple years ago. This has been my best option.
Good luck. We want the best for you in 2014.

Yeah, guilty. The only option I would consider at this point is the bi/tri focals but, I gotta tell ya, I did try once and hated 'em. So, I struggle. I COULD just take my glasses off and leave 'em off because all I really need them for is to drive or watch TV but, when folks see me without 'em, they assume I was lying the whole time about wearing glasses! I DO and need to just not all the time. Thanks. WW

I'd suggest you maintain the Credo.

I got no problem with aliens firing x-ray beams into Elvis' tomb, but I don't want ANYBODY firing laser beams into my eyeballs.

I've worn glasses for virtually every moment of every day since the start of second grade.
About 54 years.
They can be a hassle, but the ability to actually SEE stuff makes for improved navigation and increases one's odds of survival.
Also, they're part of my "image'...just like Webb!
No Lasik etc for me. My sister, who's a lot less near-sighted than I, had it. It was "successful".
She still needs glasses for almost everything.
