Subject: Webb responsible for Foster and Lloyd first hit....kinda
Just saw this vid on Youtube. Radney Foster and Bill Lloyd said that seeing Webb and the Boys rockin' out at Vanderbilt inspired them to write their 1st big hit !!! Great story and tune...Enjoy

My wife and I were happy for 30 years. Then we met each other.

My dad was a big fan of Radney Foster, and Webb as well (whom I took him to meet & see play in Green Bay a couple of years ago). I wish he was still alive to hear this story, he would huge kick out of that!

Wow that is cool -- I can remember hearing that song back in the day and loving it ... I would say after I got hooked on Webb - if I heard it I probably thought - "sounds like WW".... never would have known the connection... til now .... Thanks for finding that Gary. Also, back in the 90's when I first heard "Fast as You" by Dwight Yoakem - my first thought to that song was "sounds like WW" ... I wonder if Webb's music was an influence on that songwriter? I have no idea who wrote it - might have been Dwight? Have to look it up I guess... wonder if there is a story there too????

I have no idea about any of that. I appreciate the plug from Bill and Radney. Perhaps, I am "drinkin' my own bath water" but, I always wondered if "Slingblade" might have been somehow influenced by the following films: "Being There," Tomorrow" (Robert Duval) and "Webb Wilder, Pvt. Eye: The Saucer's Reign." "Pvt. Eye" got a lot of play on national cable TV back in the day on the USA Network's Nightflight (sp.?) program. In either case, I (like so many of you) love the "Slingblade" film. Okay, I'll shut up now. WW

Tough gig for Dwight, though.
