You could see each smiling face
As we all looked your way;
Then you tore into a song,
So much you have to say.

You sing about a swimming pool
Dark glasses and your tan.
You sing about life's rules, no dogs;
And glances at you, man.

You sing a song about a girl
Who really broke your heart;
And, one who wasn't willing
To Love you from the start.

You sing about a plastic chick
She's still got her daddy's name;
And then about some girl, Darlene,
Whose car's her only game.

You sing about the juju man
And love to last forever;
Then became much more like you~
No masks, not now or ever.

As cannonball began to fly
You set up special bait;
Made the circus all your own,
And dozens think youre great.

You aim high and tough it out
Dismissing others actions;
With Jumpin Jack, you dish it out
And give great satisfaction.

The stage chose you for RocknRoll,
Long days and weary travel;
You chose to hone your craft, build skills,
Write songs and still be clever.

Joe Williams' song will still live on
Because you make it so,
The best rendition known to man
Webb's, "Baby Please Don't Go".

You sing with soul, and blues and heart,
A voice full bodied and so strong;
Guitars like torches cut the dark,
Licks burning in each song.

We like the fact you're fully grown,
And wholly meek, not milder;
You are beloved by your fans
Iconic...You're Webb Wilder.

I like the tribute as it captures the WW experience. I am sure that others have been captured the same way, but they were unable to articulate their experience in the same manner. Webb maybe you need to work with admaven to write lyrics for a new song?

No, no, no. Appreciate the compliment to me; but, that's way off par for the intent of the tribute. Don't want that thought to color the sincerity behind the effort of thanking WW and the Beatnecks for the musical enjoyment they've provided me and so many others.

Webb ROCKS!
Webb ROCKS!
A hundred memories of times I've seen Webb and the band flashed thru my mind, as I read along. A thousand times I wished I was there, but wasn't. That was beautiful

There was an odd artist named Webb
he never went as far as Ebb
Tho' he was no faker
he needed "Green Acres"
for fame to find this Johnny Reb*

Groovy, Glom - never done Haiku, but here goes:

Webb Wilder's songs rock
His guitar burns smoking hot
The voice brings it home.

And, Webb...ever clever on the limerick. Cool.

PS: Sheriff - Glad you figured out I was a girl. No worries, though. It must be those glasses.

There once was a kid named McMurray
Who grew big in a terrible hurry
He schemed and he planned
Got together a band
And now he's Webb freakin' Wilder!*

*If you come up with a last line that rhymes, and it's not totally obscene, be sure to let me know.

Became 'Wilder' tho dad's a McMurry

I like it A LOT, esp w/Glom's line...but, it's the no 'a' thing, I think.

Guess I should really be working instead of making webbpoems...thanks for the fun.
