Once again we traveled beyond the borders of the great state of Iowa to partake of the soul enriching muscical wonders of our favorite honky tonkers, WebbWilder and the Beatnecks. This was a different venue than we are used to being in the great one's presence at, much smaller but way more personal. Webb and the guys did not dissapoint, they were in great form and all seemed to have a great time. They even had the accompaniment of a local St. Louis radio DJ who maintained a position in front of the stage dancing by himself to every song during both sets. "BeattleBob" was a bit distracting but what the hell, he had a good time.
A great thing about a smaller venue is that when you have not only a great band, but when they are also great people, you might get a chance to have a conversation with them. I had the opportunity to chat with Webb for a lengthly time about a mutual friend, Jerry Lee Lewis. The other thing I need to point out is that we enjoy Webb so much that he is now officially in second place for our concert attendance behind only the greatest rock and roll band ever to come down the pike., the Dobbie Brothers. Rock on Webb we will see you next you get close to us.
