Still standing after today's tornado outbreak. All is well with my family & friends.Been a LONG time since we've seen this much activity.

Thankfully, we got all our students on the buses and home before the tornado sirens went off later in the afternoon. Our school is basically put together with cinder blocks and it is the last place I would want to be if a tornado touched down.

Glad to hear everyone up there is OK.
My parents and grandparents (and Steve Ebe, incidentally) all are natives of Carthage, MO, which is just a few miles from Joplin. My uncle and his family still live there, and my aunt was attending a movie in Joplin with a friend Sunday when the tornado hit. They were able to get to a safe place and were unharmed, but were very close to the storm's path. My aunt's brother works at the medical center that was decimated, but fortunately wasn't there that day- I'm really grateful that they were among the lucky ones. We were right in this area during a Thanksgiving visit last year; it's hard to imagine total devastation like this can happen so quickly.

Glad to hear your family made it through the storm. Its those small blessings that are so special. Wednesday, my girls were in Blue Springs and Independence when all kinds of sirens went off. Sallie, who was on Noland Rd in Independence went to her nearest friends house. Emily was crouched in a bathtub with my granddaughter in Blue Springs. No weather radio, no nothin'. Needless to say, I purchased some weather radios Saturday so they could all be informed.
To my surprise, I got a couple of "Thank you, Mom"s.
My prayers and thoughts are with all that are recovering from this springs devestation.
