Subject: Plate lunch joints, cafeterias, Bar-B-Q, catfish, motels?
My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Memphis so she can see Graceland and pay respects to E. I made the trip about 10 years ago.

When I went, I visited the Belle Meade Cafeteria and Latham's Meats (in Jackson, Tenn.). Both places were great and I'm looking for suggestions for similar places to eat. Also requesting recommendations for good Bar-B-Q and catfish places.

How about lodging suggestions? If there are any good, CLEAN, Mom & Pop-type motels that can be recommended, I'd prefer to stay in those rather than the big chain motels.

Finally, are there any stretches of U.S. 70 that are worth taking, rather than just staying on I-40? In particular, it looks like U.S. 70 between Nashville and Huntingdon might be interesting.

The suggestion to check out Latham's came from a guy at a gas station who lookied and sounded like he just stepped out of a Webb Wilder movie.

Thanks for any tips and info.

Glom - Be sure to make the trip down to Clarksdale Mississippi to the Delta Blues Museum - it's awesome: http://www.deltabluesmuseum.org/ - while on your way to Clarksdale, stop at http://www.interstatebarbecue.com/ for some good bbq
and don't miss the tour at Sun Studios: http://www.sunstudio.com/
also the Stax Museum: http://www.soulsvilleusa.com/

Really a fun town!

Thanks for the info, Pammy. We'll certainly check out Sun, and probably Stax. I don't think we'll be making it down to Clarksdale, though.

Anybody else with info about what to see, and where to eat and stay?

The BBQ Company and the Rendezvous in Memphis are both good. There's another one I like but, I forget the name. Oh...Interstate BBQ is good. Hey, I turned on the Jack Webb-u-lator! Very cool! Good sound. Thanks again for this truly special gift! Hail, Glom! WW

Thanks for the BBQ info, Webb.

I'm glad you like "Jack". It occurred to me later that I should have made yours with Broderick Crawford on it, but Jack Webb was on the first one I made for my brother, so I stuck with him for the units that I made for you and my friends.
