I was just wondering if anyone here was a fan of this fun, loud rock band?

But I continued on to collect more of their music. they have a larger part in rock history than many think. The stories in the box set are really interesting.

However, I did have a student who was named after the band itself. His mom is from England and obviously a fan. Susan

Saw the current line up (Slade 2) minus Noddy Holder and Jim Lea year before last. Still a great show, and they did Merry Christmas Everybody - in July!

They only faded (In commercial terms) when thay tried to 'Crack' America. This meant they toured heavily and their british Fan Base moved on. They had a revival in the 80's following an apearence at the Reading Rock Festival when thay stepped in to replace Ozzy Osbourne and blew Def Leppord off Stage. I was there! A truly brilliant live band with one of the best Singers in Rock. Massively underated. They also made one of the best films about Rock. Slade in Flame. Years ahead of its time as it tried to show the reality of Band life on the road. Semi autobiographical and all material written by the Band. 'How does it feel' would make a great candidate for the Webb treatment. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q28WYKnGNNE Feel the Noize!

I hope Mr. Wilder doesn't mind me talking about them. :)
P.S. Any fans of this group should really consider picking up their Graetest Hits Box Set.

Back in August 04 I was on The Magical History Tour and when our bus pulled up in front of Carling Arena formerly Hammersmith Odeon and few other names, there was a sick revival/benefit type gig with Andy Scott's Sweet, Les McKeown's Bay City Rollers, Status Quo, Slade and a few others. We went around back to the unstable stairs used in A Hard Day's Night and there is the big crowd off to the side of the building...it was Slade's drummer holding court.
