Subject: May 29 - Deluxe Fine Food & Spirits
With the closing of the Lucas Schoolhouse Music Hall, Webb appeared at a new venue. Deluxe is a hip venue with good food and drink prices. Webb really liked it although the turnout was less than ideal but very spirited. As Webb always says, "I'm worshiped by dozens." Thanks to all the uber Wilderians who were there. Beatle Bob(the saint of St. Louis)was there for the entire show, thereby, in Webb's words "officially making this a happin' time". A rollicking good time was had by all and the Boyz seemed particularly inspired in the second set where they went for broke. It sure seemed like someone put a nickle in Jimmy on drums. Of course, beside Webb was Tom on bass and Bob on lead guitar.

Below is the play list for the evening. Unnoticed until Webb pointed it out Dick Cheney was the bathroom attendant and had a great selection of colognes.

Set One

1. Big Time
2. Human Cannonball
3. Rough Rider
4. The Only One
5. If You're Looking For A Fool
6. Pretty Little Lights Of Town
7. Too Cool For Love
8. Changing Colors
9. Juju Man
10. Sudden Stop
11. Still Water Runs Deep
12. Come Around
13. Slow Death
14. One Taste Of The Bait
15. Tough It Out

Set Two

1. Miss Missy From Ol' Hong Kong
2. Pretty Is As Pretty Does
3. Sputnik
4. She's Not Romantic
5. Hoodoo Witch
6. Who Will The Next Fool Be
7. Ain't That Loving You
8. Flat Out Get It
9. The Rest Will Take Care Of Itself
10. Stay Out Of Automobiles
11. Don't Slander Me
12. Jimmy Reed Is The King Of Rock And Roll
13. Baby Please Don't Go

Quite a weekend. Some bitter, mostly sweet.

Bitter: Didn't get to make it to Innsbrook on Sat. because of an audition.
.
Sweet: Got the movie gig, and got a bonus theatre gig for the fall at same audition.

Bitter: Because of bonus gig I'll miss Webfest . Again.

Sweet: Found out Webb is going to be in Columbia in July. I'll be there. I'll help in any way I can. Still thinking about KC too. And Rockford.

Sweetest: I got to hear one of my favorite artists and one of my favorite bands at an AMAZING show on Friday night. I got to shake the hands of some of the finest musicians on the planet. Add to that, I got to meet some of the Immortals of this board in Buckwheat and Tater and the like, and I again got to sit with my Webb friends Tommy and Pammy Lee. Great and fantastic people all.

Sitting with friends, listening to one of the best. Sometimes it hits me that I'm a lucky man to get Friday nights like that. Thanks to all involved.

Chris

You are what you is!

It was a great show. I agree that the second set was smokin' good. I had to drive all the way to St. Louis to spend some time with my brother Buckwheat Cheney, who lives across the street from me in Beaver, OH. Got to take the Tater Tots to the show and Webb and the guys signed all their SWAG items for them and made them feel welcome. We got to see Beatle Bob formally acknowledge the best band in St. Louis by dancing all night by the stage. He has to be the most energetic person in the entire world, he was non-stop. The bar had some really nice art-work-type-icons on the wall, such as a full size "Rat Fink" and a "Zap Comix" eyeball and the food wasn't bad either. I met Brandmanjr and will miss him at Webb Fest IV, but congrats on the new role! It is always a pleasure to spend time with Mike and Dori and Tommy Lee and the lovely Patrice. I am still recovering from the 1200 mile weekend travel but it was worth every mile of it to see Webb and company three nights in a row! Will post photos tomorrow.

Great show, and it's a good thing we had all the folks from out of town as the St. Louis Contingent was way too small. I heard there were a lot of High School Graduations going on that night...come on people, where are your priorities? Thanks to everyone for making the weekend so much fun! It was especially nice to finally meet the infamous Buckwheat and to hang out with our friend Chris.
