And, from there, what were the next few guitars you acquired???
Do you still have any of those old guitars from back in the day?

The first guitar was a $17.50 sunburst Silvertone acoustic from Sears that had a screwed on pickguard and a plywood top. The next guitar was a 2 pickup sunburst made in Japan Marathon electric with a Marathon amp. The next amp was a Gibson Falcon which I still have. The next instrument was a 1966 Fender Precision Bass which is what I played in my first band. The next many guitars are all gone but, it did all start with that Silvertone acoustic. My mother actually asked me if I would like a guitar. I said,"Yes!" She ordered me that one from Sears. Thanks. WW

And, looking at your collection, which guitars have you had the longest?

The first two songs I can remember learning were "Tom Dooley" and "500 Miles," both folk songs learned with words and chords together. I probably wanted to play and sing. I hadn't yet quite singled out certain players. I was probably more in the Roy Rogers/Elvis/Ricky Nelson/Beatles singing and playing rhythm head then. I was only twelve yeasrs old, but I do remember James Burton playing on Ozzie and Harriet with Ricky. I had two albums that I ordered from Sears when I was in the fourth grade(before Beatlemania broke open later that year). One was the soundtrack to Elvis Presley's,"It Happened At The World's Fair,"(a movie I had seen). the other one was "Ricky Nelson's Million Sellers." James played on every one ofthe songs on that one. I used to just listen to records like the Beatles, the Byrds, the Everly Brothers and totally groove on the textures of the guitar all through the songs and wonder how they got those sounds. Later I began to think in terms of lead having heard B.B., Bloomfield, etc. Gi-tar. What can I say? Thanks. WW.
