Dressed all in orange, headed down to Dogtown and utilized our skills in interpersonal relations. Fisticuffs were involved.

On Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 at 3:50PM Susan (a member) replied: Susan Member Since: June 2005 The Epitome of Sheer Happiness The Epitome of Sheer Happiness | Here's a bit about my Irish heritage: My mother's maiden name was Mustard (Yup!), and the Mustard family comes from Ireland--more specifically, a little village called Donegal, which was primarily Protestant. Back in the 1700s, a fellow who was Catholic died, and a priest had to be summoned to come in to deliver the funeral Mass. The wait for the priest would take a few days, and my great (well, you have to back several greats to actually get to him)-grandfather and his buddy who were both teenagers decided they would play a little prank that included the corpse. They took the body, tied some rope around it, and pulled it up the chimney right before the priest came in. Just as the priest walked in, they lowered the body which was covered with soot at this point, and nearly scared the priest to death with the sight of it. A law in those days stated that it was illegal to "molest a corpse" (the term used then), so the two boys were in big trouble. To escape prosecution, they got on a ship that was heading out of the country and sailed to America. They eventually settled in Virginia, and then a bunch of other stuff happened, and so here I am today. The End. Susan

Since that time we've made a lot of progress, we are now at least 2 steps ahead of them.

"Whip that boy and you'll answer to me!" | The McCracken name is of both Scottish and Irish decent - but the first McCracken in America was an Irishman named Alexander McCracken... by chance I found this out after I had named my first born son Alexander ... which was an interesting coincidence ....
We all wore green yesterday - and that was the extent of our St. Patty's day celebrating.

They showed up in Illinois, moved to Bolivar, Mo a little before the Civil War. Migrated to Oklahoma Territory (I guess they were Sooners). Weren't happy there and went by covered wagon to Colorado Springs, CO. Stayed 6 months thru the winter & took the train as far as they could to homestead in what was to become Spokane, WA. Somehow we wound up back in Missouri. Go figure.
Thanks for sharing!!
How's that WebbFest planning goin' guys? Our attendance is still uncertain for now. Waiting for further updates.
With a new CD available, I'm hoping for a huge turnout here in KC July 11th. An outside show. My favorite.
