Subject: Sad loss of a True Rock & Roller
Last Wednesday, Lux Interior, the lead singer of The Cramps died of an aortic dissection. He was only 62. He leaves behind his lead guitarist/wife Poison Ivy; the tuffest woman ever to walk down the Link Wray road. (And she walked it mean) They were married 37 years and made The Cramps their life.

The Cramps were about the only band delving back into Rockabilly in the late 70s in an authentic way and making it relevant to their time & lives. The subsequent explosion of Rockabilly that began in the 80s (and hasn't really stopped) probably has a lot to do with their influence. Their canon is resplendent with ribald and sybaritic originals rubbing shoulders with obscure covers. Masters of the triple (and sometimes single) entendre; we shall probably not see the likes of them again. Tributes here: http://www.thecramps.com/

Saw him do a full show in high heal pumps at Sloss Furnace in Birmingham back in the day. By the end of the set he was as legally naked as a man could be. He basicly "did" the stage. What a Showman. Lex will be misssed.

I also bore witness to the nudeness of Lux and The Cramps with the Flat Duo Jets years back. Lux, Ivy, Nick, were always the real deal. A sad day indeed.

Very sad! I remember seeing them with FDJ also, but also many many times. I really liked that band!
