Subject: New feature: "Knock-Knock" messages
Ever wanted to privately contact another Webb Board, but were reluctant to put your email address into a post? Well, now there's a safer solution. It's called "Knock-Knock."

Knock-Knock enables you to send a message, emailed by our website, that gives your contact information to the member of your choice. The recipient must have Knock-Knock enabled for you to send a Knock-Knock message to them.

When you send one, the recipient will receive this information...
1. Your member name,
2. Your optionally-entered real name,
3. Your email address, and
4. A brief message you provide.

You, the sender, you will not be told the recipient's email address right off -- that's protected information. However, since you are providing your email to the recipient, they can then email you back. This sets the stage for further private communication between you.

Each of us has a new Member Profile setting that indicates whether you wish to receive Knock-Knock messages. I encourage everybody to go enable this option; it is disabled by default for privacy reasons.

After you update your Profile, your posts will contain a link for sending you knock-knocks. For example, look at the end of my post -- it should state "member accepts knock-knocks" which you could then use to contact me. A similar link is on our Member Roster page, if you've chosen to be listed there.

I know in the past people have arranged beforehand to get together at gigs and whatnot, and to stay in touch. So hopefully people will find this new feature useful. And it should help protect your privacy, by reducing the need to post your email address.

Regards,
Mike-o
