We were speculating about next year's Webb Fest and a gal named Laurie Lewis came on KDHX 88.1 FM covering the old Everly Brothers tune "Bowling Green". Was this an omen? It sounded mighty fine, and of course made us think of Bowling Green, KY. It's nice country, purty good location, and probably the only way to get Hunter to show up!
What do you say, anybody? Tater & Eric? Hunter, is there a suitable venue in your area? I guess we need room for at least 200 and a good PA.

Sittin' on Fat Tires! | Bowling Green is an awesome town. I lived there from Spring 80 to Fall 81. Helped build GMs Corvette plant. Went back many years later and walked our ours thru when it was built. Neat experience! I have an account there now that I have work at a few weeks a year. There are plenty of reasonable hotel rooms and I am sure a property would work with us on a block of rooms at a great price. It is much closer for the band, only an hour away. I am all for it and will help in any way to secure a venue.
BTW... Tommy Lee, send us another email, we did get the one sent.

Provided our schedules allow, we will be there. We were talking about this very thing--WW IV--on the way back Sunday. We had a fantastic time last weekend, and we can't wait for next year. Susan

Tater and I have already been discussing Bowling Green as a possibility. I've been trying to find a venue, but haven't come up with anything yet. I haven't actually tried asking places, though, so we'll see.
I'd definitely be able to make it if it were held in Bowling Green. ;-)

We would like Hunter to attend one of these events, so I would not rule out Bowling Green. Nashville is the other venue we have spoken about. I'd be happy to hear people's thoughts.

I had also mentioned it to Hunter - trying to talk him into coming to one of the shows.... I even said something to Webb at WF III about - taking it Northward for next year - but not too far from Nashville... then mentioning BG specifically.
Actually, we have even considered Nashville itself, after all NashVegas is the home of WW & Beatnecks.

Can you do road trips for research as a business expense?(Speaking of personalities, I wonder which KC Chiefs team will show up today? Looks like an easy win for the Titans.)

Govt Mule just did a sold-out show there recently and Warren Haynes said he couldn't wait to get back and play it again. It's located in the historic downtown district on the square amidst all kinds of cool little restaurants and galleries. Webb has played several clubs dotted all around the downtown area in the past including Picasso's back in the "City Without A Subway" and ICFN days -- even an outdoor on-the-square gig if memory serves correctly. We would love to have Webb back in 'Vette City -- not to mention the loving public...

Still, I have friends who know people there, and I'll be investigating the possibility.

St. Louis would sure be convenient, plenty of venues and there's a lot to do here, but it may be a bit too far from the geographical center of Webb fans.

He's Cranky. He's Exploding. He's Cranky And Exploding Ned. Deal With It. | For many reasons, Bowling Green's Capitol Arts Center would be an excellent choice for Webbfest 09. I'd support it 100%. And I would have a suggestion. What Webb fan wouldn't pay to support the Fest? That's the only way a nice theatre like that one would be viable, and in the long run would make for a better fest. I don't know about you, but I'd rather be in a nice theatre than a bar. Not that I'm uppity, I am not, it just makes the weekend more pleasant, and I would imagine I'm not alone.

Webb ROCKS! | this Bowling Green idea seems to have alot of support, so maybe that's something to think seriously about. Would be fine with me, and I AM going to the next one! and I haven't met Hunter yet either!
My main contribution to this discussion is this: the guys spend alot of time traveling around taking care of business, so if it can be somewhere close to "home", they might appreciate that. And, secondly, maybe it should be somewhere that they'd like to get a foot (or an amp) in the door, so to speak, as the venue would have a guaranteed audience of a couple hundred or so customers. Bottom line is if the band is happy, anywhere USA is fine with me!
