Really, they're not that great. | Subject: Hotel rooms for Webbfest Just booked my room for Webbfest. Went through Hotwire. Managed to get the Holiday Inn near the airport for $55 per night. They are also offering a 2-star hotel (hotwire doesn't tell you the name of the hotel until after you book) in central Asheville for $49 a night.
Hope that helps some of you.

I actually called the Econolodge that is out that way ... thinking they would have a good rate ... but they told me the same thing as the other places ... would give me $99 a night and no group rates.
Sounds like using the old internet, just might pay off in this case.... good work and I'm sure all those planning to come to the event appreciate your input.
Just for thought too.... if you want to look at some options and don't mind driving 15 minutes or so extra.... then look for rooms in the following areas just outside Asheville. Hendersonville (on past Asheville on I-26), Mars Hill (back toward Johnson City, TN on I-26), Enka or Arden (going west on I-40 toward Knoxville, TN)

Really, they're not that great. | Hotwire definitely seems to be the way to go. Booking at the Holiday Inn on the Holiday Inn website gives a rate of $144-$190 per night. (btw, the Holiday Inn was the 3 star hotel on hotwire) Can't do a comparison of the 2star hotel since I don't know which one it is, but seeing as I couldn't find anything that cheap through expedia or travelocity, I'm guessing it's a pretty good discount.

I would suggest it for you Fred - Michigan to Asheville may not be too bad - you could always fly into Charlotte too ... about a 2 hr drive to Asheville or Atlanta which is a 3 hours or so. Those would be the ones I'd check on Travelocity, or hotwire or priceline....or....

As it stands now, I might not be able to come which has broken my heart. I wanted to come to this so bad. I generally don't get to do a whole lot and Webbfest 2007 was the highlight of that year for me. If money remains this tight though, I may not being doing much of anything.
Thanks again. | |
