Webb (or Bob): A lot of nice things have been said here about the new plank spanking wizard of Wilder, Big Bob Williams, that I believe your loving public would like to know a little more about Bob. Would you, or he, care to fill in some details like who he is, where he has been and what bands he has played in up to now? I am one of the folks who believe that Bob is a GREAT addition to the band. Thanks.

The quick version is kinda like this. After having had the good fortune of spending many years touring and/or recording with a host of very talented artists, I decided a few years ago to get off the road and concentrate primarily on doing studio work. I have known Webb for years (in fact we live only a few blocks apart) and have been a fan since I first caught his act back in 1988. Anyway, about a year ago Webb gave me a call and said he needed someone to fill on a few dates. I hadnt been on a tour bus in quite some time and really had little desire to ever see the insides of one again. But this was different. I could hear the Econoline calling my name. So of course I was more than willing to join the Rock and Roll National Guard and go serve my country in the pursuit of bringing real live music to good people like yourselves. It is a privilege to perform for such dedicated and well-informed fans. I hope to see you at a Webb Wilder performance soon!!! BW

Anyway, I caught you with the band for the first time at the Down Home - and if you read my post - well, you got rave reviews. I think all of us that have seen you are happy that you are a part of the Beatnecks and yes, we'll see you soon. (Kingsport in about a week)

A brief history of Bob Williams... Way back in the day, he played with Arlo Guthrie, et.al. Then after moving to Nashville in the 80's, he played with Tom Comet and Tim Krekel and others in Mark Germino's band, and they did a record (Produced by R.S. Field) called Radartown. Bob also went on to play with Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker, Lee Greenwood, Ray Kennedy, the Love Unlimited Guitar Orchestra, and a few other Nashville upper echelon types. Mainly a session super-picker nowdays, he's been filling in with Webb and the guys for the occasional odd gigs, for about the last year or so. Serving in the "Rock and Roll National Guard", as he puts it.
