But I gotta ask you Webb - how do you do it? I am still wiped out from Saturday. I know you were all tired from the late show Friday night and then you had to drive all the way back to Nashville on Sunday. I don't know how you do it -- but I'm sure glad you do!! In your honor, I spent Sunday afternoon "poolside."
Hopefully I'll get my pics in sometime today :) Again, thanks for a great show- I'm always amazed!

And,you were in my town on Tuesday night to boot! I'd say "No show??" but seems your dance card was already full! There's always next time - though hopefully you won't be just passing through...which reminds me I need to contact 202 Market (the upscale joint downtown) to beg for some Webb!
Any chance you'd do a 2 nighter next time at the Ellington? That was a nice venue...
Go ahead and drool while you can.... Atlanta's a long drive! :-)

You are what you is! | Sorry for the late posting but we got home Sunday about 3:30PM after a pleasant 7 hour motorcycle ride from Lynchburg and ecided to take Monday off work and just lounged around the house trying to be as lazy as our dog, Spanky. I thought it was a great show at the Ellington. We always enjoy going there. The crowd wasn't as rowdy as they have been in the past but is was clear that Lynchburg loves Webb Wilder. It was good to see Bill Longworth, Snake's brother-in-law. He brought the ticket he had bought for Snake to the show with him. Webb and the boys signed the two set lists and gave them to Bill who was going to have the set lists and ticket framed. Webb told everyone that this show was for Snake! Bob does just keep getting better all the time and he was great to begin with. Jimmy Lester seemed to be in an upbeat mood and beat those drums half to death. Tom Comet rules, as usual! Webb, well what can you say about Webb? He is the Electrifying artist and never ceases to amaze! Tahnks guys! I have a couple photos for Christina. Email me at taterbodine@yahoo.com and I'll email them to you. Susan and Tony drove down and met us at the Holiday Inn and drove us to the show. It was really nice to spend some time with those wonderful folks! I have some photos to send Hunter today. An interesting side note: As I was standing in front of the Ellington, I noticed an Art Museum across the street. This has got to be the only building in the entire world that has, in concrete letters emblazoned across the frieze on top, the name of George Jones and in smaller letters on the side: William Shakesphere, Milton, Solon, etc. But it was obvious that George Jones had top billing. Who'd a thought?

It was nice to see you guys there - though I didn't get to meet the rest of your crew. I will next time for sure. My mom enjoyed chatting with all of you and may be accompanying me to Webbfest-- woohoo!!
As for the museum -- what can I say? The Hill City has it's priorities-- them other fellers just pale in comparison to George... I can't explain it --
Did you folks check out the Texas Tavern after the show? Good eats...

My sons (Jones,8 and Myles,5) think that you are the epicenter of rock greatness, and they know all of your songs by heart. So, what am I getting at? They were just jammin to VooDoo Witch and asked me to look for your web site. I found out that you will be playing in Atlanta on August 16 which is GREAT because we will be right down the road on vacation from Florida. I wonder if there is any way they could say hello and hear 1 song? I know this is a club, so hmmmm... I don't know. Thank for the great music! Ellen Shannon

On Wednesday, August 13th, 2008 at 9:39AM Tom Comet (a member) replied: Tom Comet Member Since: October 2006 | Hey TommyLee- When I first started playing bass, I used a thumb pick for a while, then I used a regular guitar pick for many years, and finally picked up the two finger technique. I still play fingerstyle and pickstyle, as you know, and have adapted my original thumb pick method to using my bare thumb and index finger with palm muting a la Joey Spampinato. I generally use all three in the course of a Webb show to vary the sound and note length of whichever bass I'm playing. Some basses also respond better to different techniques than others, and some are more comfortable to play one way than another. For instance, my Hondo Longhorn is a great fingerstyle bass, and the Silvertone you saw me play sounds great with a pick and is also more comfortable to play that way because it's very light and there's no place on it to anchor my thumb for fingerstyle playing. I would play the Silvertone a lot more, but it's electronics pick up a lot of noise and the Hondo is real quiet, so it's usually the more practical choice. Short answer- I just try to do whatever it takes to make 'em sound as good as I can for the song and the bass I'm playing. I'm pretty comfortable with all of those techniques.

It was great and I look forward to doing it again soon. Webb and the Beatnecks were wonderful as usual, but I have to brag on one of them a little more this time. Bob Williams is the MAN!! His playing on all the normal Webb tunes is incredible and just keeps getting better. BUT, his playing on Jimmy Reed and Long Black Limousine was unbelievable. The steel guitar licks he was doing on Long Black Limo really blew me away. This man is the real deal. If you haven't had the chance to see and hear Bob play, you are doing yourself an injustice!!
