This is sad news, indeed, Bill. I had no idea. Snake was(can't believe I'm speaking of him in the past tense!) truly a gentleman AND a scholar of music, not to mention a valued supporter of mine. I'm speechless...WW

I can't believe it. What a shock. I ALWAYS enjoyed reading his posts, and was hoping to meet him one day at a show somewhere...

RIP, David "SNAKE" Robertson. You will be missed around here, and I'm sure everywhere.

Chris.

This is very sad indeed! I had no idea this was coming. I only met him at last WebbFest but he has been a wealth of information and fun over the years on here. RIP!

This is terribly somber news. I'm so sorry to hear of it! I think we were all aware that Snake was receiving medical care from time-to-time, but I sure didn't expect this. Very sad indeed ]-;

Bill, thank you for passing this information along. It's bad enough that Snake will visit us here no more, but it only worsens things when a friend has gone missing, yet you don't know why. At least we will not face that, too.

Vaya con Dios, Snake! We will miss you.

I'm stunned and truly saddened to hear the news of Snake's passing. I know very few people who have a greater interest in music than his, so I consider it a real compliment that he was such a fan of our little group. I'll really miss chatting with him at shows as well as his frequent posts, which have turned us all on to some pretty incredible vintage performances on YouTube, among many other things. We'll look forward to seeing you in Roanoke, Bill, but the empty seat next to you will sure be a sad sight.

Rest in Peace, David; thanks again for the shirt, and so much more.

Oh, how horrible. I knew he had had some health issues, but thought he had turned a corner. He will be missed for many reasons.

Wow, I too am saddened deeply by this news. I first saw snake at a Down Home show ... but didn't get to know him til we traded e-mails and phone calls before I came to Roanoke to see a show at the Coffee Pot. He bought my ticket in advance and I paid him for it at the show... but the real story of that show was the fact that he just got out of the hospital either that day or the day before. I had a hard time getting a hold of him leading up to the show just for that reason ... but there he was fresh from the hospital enjoying a Webb Wilder concert with me...

Of course, he had a great time at both Webb Fests, and I felt compelled to bring to everyone's attention that he was there. He was a presence in the room and everyone knew who he was with very little introduction.

What a great guy -- David you will be missed by me, all the fellow Webb fans, and by music fans in general.... you were a true fan of real music and now I hope you are enjoying some great tunes up there in Rock-N-Roll Heaven.

Damn, I'm speechless ... I'd first met Snake at one of Webb's shows at the Rhythm & Roots festival in Bristol a few years back, and had had the pleasure of seeing him numerous times since ... David was not only a true music connoisseur, but an all around neat guy ... rest well, my friend.

God speed Snake! I first met him at the Down Home and have seen him at various shows since then. I enjoy going to the Ellington, in addition to the music, because he was usually there. Bill, give our condolences to the rest of the family and we will see you at the Ellington this year. For me, it will be a kind of Pilgrimmage for Snake. He was a big supporter at each Webb Fest and always seemed to be a modest and kind soul. He was, as Webb put it once: "A intellectual" He was a Title Researcher for companies such as Big Coal mine operations and Snake knew a lot about the local histories of most places in the Webb venue areas. He will be missed and I believe the world is a better place for Snake having walked amoungst us!
