The Big Announcement you've all been waiting for:

Eric McCracken (aka Big "E") and Jim Chandler (aka Tater Bodine) are proud to announce Webb Wilder Fan Fest 2008 - or - Webb Fest III. This year Webb Fest will be held October 11th 2008 at the Grey Eagle, (a well-known concert venue) in Asheville, North Carolina. More particulars will be announced as they become available, such as Hotel Rates, number of tickets available and an email address to send ticket requests. Stay tuned to this website for information as it develops.

Providing all that is Webb Fest for well over "2" years,

Eric and Tater

Can't talk much now but I thought I'd mention there are LOTS of new gigs posted on the Tour Dates page. Check 'em out.

And no, sorry, Webb Fest isn't on there yet. Gotta make sure I have the good before I go spoutin' off.

Thanks for the info guys! Kudos to Eric & Tater for tackling the task of organizing Webb Fest III. I'll be crunching the numbers and watching for future updates.

Yo, Mike-o! A little typo in the Knucklehead's date in the body of the listing. There may be some commotion there on the 12th, but it won't be Webb until the 13th which is listed correctly in bold text with the bar information.

Hey, Emily, Sallie and I are seriously thinking about attending. I don't know squat about Asheville, North Carolina, so you guys need to get me up to speed. I'll be watching for the hotel deals and such. Ma Kettle and the Daughters go East of the Mississippi. Bring your cameras.

Great Googly Moogly!! Seeing that I live in Asheville, it looks as if I am attending Webb Fest this year! You will all like the Grey Eagle, a down home and comfy club with no smoking, cajun food in the kitchen and a relaxed vibe. The thought of FINALLY being able to see SCATTERGUN in my home town aaaaalmost outweighs the fine rock & roll surely on tap.

So far I am not having any luck on group rates at the hotels. Days Inn seems to have reasonable individual rates.
Mr. Revolt into Style: If you know of a good hotel that may be willing to deal with us, email me at taterbodine@yahoo.com
Thanks,

Group rates? I don't really know, because I live here! Kind of an chicken with no egg phenomenon if you catch my drift. For "atmosphere" The Mountaineer Inn about 5 minutes away from The Grey Eagle can't be beat - http://mtinnasheville.homestead.com/index.html Here's an iconic photo:

Okay: I have taken the sage advice of Revolt into Style and now have an arrangement at the Mountaineer INN. Here is a link to their website:
http://mtinnasheville.homestead.com/index.html
They are going to reserve 30 rooms for Webb Fest III. The rooms have 2 double beds each. There is pool (it may be a little chilly in October) and it is within 5-10 minutes of the Grey Eagle. The special Webb Fest III price is $75.34 per night including Taxes etc. The owner says that you need to have reserved your room by 2 weeks prior to the show to ensure getting one. This is what they call "Leaf Season" in Asheville and apparently some people pay money and take trips to see leaves in the fall. So, when you call, mention that you are with Webb Fest to get the low price. I think I may have two new converts to Webb's music and I am giving the owner and her husband 2 tickets to the show!

While driving about Asheville on my various junkets there, Tater, the Mountaineer has struck me as a quaint mom-n-pop place ... haven't stayed there yet, but may yet, depending on how that whole weekend winds up ... :-)

Hey, Jo!
What flight are you taking to Atlanta? When are you arriving? We are flying over on Friday and driving to Asheville. I want the girls to see the country there. I still need to call The Mountaineer Inn and set that up but everything else is a go. Orbitz got us a much better price than Travelocity. We're flying Delta. I have flown them several times before to Florida.
See ya there!

Jo,
I was shocked at first, too.
This will be our vacation getaway for the year and the girls are REALLY excited that "I was taking them with me" to Webb Fest. They have never flown before, let alone been east of the Mississippi so that helped ease the pain of the cost. Orbitz package with tickets, parking at KCI, and car rental was $340 for each of us.
After I made the committment $$, I felt like I should be committed until I played Tough It Out/Born to Be Wilder on my way to work. Now everything's good.
Hey, after all, you are our Midwest Marathon Tour leader, can't miss Webb Fest and once you see your sis: Priceless!
We'll catch up to you somewhere.

Would you believe I just got tickets for much less than I've been seeing ($250). Yep. Just put them on the good ol' credit card today. Have to take near red-eyes to get that price, but I'll take it over $400 any day. See you there!

Okay then...Webb will just have to find a way to work a Houston gig in his schedule (not Oct 7-18)....I'll be missing WF3 because I'll be doing my big cancer hike in Peru Oct 9-12.
If'n it were not for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!
