!986 I heard him getting interviewed for a show by Weasel before a show that was hrs away. I dropped my plans headed into D.C. and the next thing I knew 8 of my friends had bought his record and I became the unofficial Czar of Webbdom in Southern Maryland. Whats your birthday to this world?

Yeah it sounded like that is what he meant - most of us have shared our Webb-Birthday at some time or another - here's mine again anyway.

I knew of WW from early in college but didn't get a chance to go to a live show until I heard he was opening for 38 special - so I figured how could I lose a "Local" music legend with a Big Time band from the 80's I had never seen live.... decided to go to the Bijou in Knoxville to see that concert .... I liked the 38 show, it was OK - but Webb blew them away ... was so amazed with WW's show that I left thinking only of how I could see them again and which record store I was going to the next day to buy one of his albums.... (not sure why I didn't go to the Swag table) ... anyway had a friend buy Hybrid Vigor, and I bought Doo Dad and we made Cassettes for each other --- another friend told me he had ICFN on vinyl ... made me a cassette of that (which I still have) .... I've since gotten every one on CD (some twice).... and haven't looked back since.

Mine was a quiet Saturday evening in 1988. I was surfing the channels, best I remember there were not a lot of them as cable was fairly new then, at least in Shepherdsville. I crossed KET ( Kentucky Educational Television ) and saw this energetic young fellow dressed a bit like a thin Perry Mason belting out this tune called REVANOOR MAN. It was the Lonesome Pine Special & I was absolutely MESMERIZED! I watched the entire hour in awe! I WAS HOOKED as that ONE TASTE OF THE BAIT was all it took. The following Monday, I went to Ear X Tacy in Louisville and bought ICFN on vinyl. I called KET and spoke with everyone from the janitor to the CEO and finally got a VHS copy of the show. I WAS HAPPY! Research was difficult then, I had no PC, so I made a lot of phone calls and found out Webb was going to be at a club in Louisville called Flahertys 3. I went to the show, and saw Webb, Jimmy, Cletus Wollensak ( Dennis Blakely ) and the one and only Donnie Roberts. The Twangler was worth the price of the ticket! Dori and I met in 1992 and she was immediately hooked too. Following Webb has involved scheduling our vacation time around Webb shows. We have 2 passions... Riding our Choppers and following The Man & the Band!!!!

Mine was in 1987 and it was my best friend's birthday. My buddy said there was a band he had heard good things about and wanted to go to the Excelsior Mill here in Atlanta to hear them. I agreed to be designated driver and let him drink. Red, then my gf, came along for the ride. Excelsior Mill, now Masquerade, has three levels. At that time there was ballroom dancing on the main floor with a massive Wurlitzer. I was shocked to see so many seniors having such a good time to the old hits. Real eye opener.

Anyway, this guy in glasses and hat came on a rocked our world. I was flabbergasted. Friend got so polluted he ended up stumbling into and appologizing to a stair post. We had to leave. I bought the album the next day and got one for my buddy cuz he missed quite a bit I could tell.

The rest is history. And my friend is still hanging, hopefully he will join me, Red and Sprout at Smith's in August.

Somewhere in a blur during "It Came From Nashville" and "The Lone Star" in Westport, (after Jason and the Scortchers came to KC) I can't remember if it was at The Lone Star or at The Grand Emporium, but from there I was hooked. Those were the days, by crackie!! Parody Hall, The Lone Star, The Grand Emporium. Man!!! Glory Days indeed.

Webb and the Beatnecks have been my connection to Rock n' Roll thru my wild n' crazy days, domesticated days, respondsible parent days, single parent days and now my teens getting ready to leave the nest days.

I don't know what I would have done without them carrying the rock n' roll torch lifting my spirits along the way. Lots of faith, lots of rock. Reminding me of the spark that keeps us all young.

About the Credo? My family has been living it for generations.

I was living in Philly around the time of Doo-Dad and "Tough it out" was getting quite a bit of airplay. Bought the record and discovered that Webb was playing the 23 East Cabaret the night after my band was there. Went to see him natch, and was totally blown away. Been hooked ever since.

Fall 1989, I was a graveyard shift DJ at a college radio station in eastern Washington state. Most our playlist came from albums, very few CD's. One late night I stumbled across Webb's first album, slapped "Horror Hayride"on the turntable and never stopped listening. Some nights I'd play an entire side on the air. I was hooked then, for life. Webb's album disappeared from the station when I left. (insert maniacal victorious laughter here ___ ! ) I now have two young sons listening to Webb, so the new generation of Loving Public continues!

In Austin listening to the radio when they played something off a new record called ICFN. I was hooked! Then got to see the MAN and the BAND and believe it or not, hooked again. Don't know the date and you can all figure out the year of my Webb birth.

I first caught WW in Greenville, SC not long after DooDad was released. It still rates as one of the best shows I have ever been to. The lineup was Webb, Donnie Roberts, Jimmy Lester, and Kelly Looney, and I was on the front row about 10 feet from Webb & Donnie. They absolutely smoked the place that night.
