Subject: Hamilton Jordan--adios and thanks
There is a story about how Ham would pretend to be Jimmy Carter on the phone to field suggestions by the frequent incoherent calls from Elvis. Apparently E felt that since Carter was from the South-- he could be somewhat of an advisor to the Carter admin.--

I had the great honor and extreme pleasure of dining with Mr. Jordan at the White House in 1978 while on tour with Marshall Chapman supporting her 'Jaded Virgin' album, which we had recorded with Al Kooper in LA earlier that year. Marshall's sister went to school with him, so he came to our show in DC and invited us all to lunch. Apparently it was not that unusual in the Carter White House to see a bunch of hippies hanging out with staff members...
He was a fine fellow; may he rest in peace.
