Subject: Ellington!
Attention Snowcone, Christina, etc.

I was just looking at Webb's Myspace, and it is listing a show at the Ellington in Lynchburg on Saturday, August 9. It's also on the Ellington website.

http://www.theellington.org/event.html?id=191

The Ellington is absolutely my favorite place to see Webb.

Snake, bless you for bringing this to my attention. I'm sure I would have seen this soon enough, but the sooner the better where Webb is concerned. I've been hounding Glenn for a couple of months to get the boys back to town. You are right about a great place to see WW, bigger room and bigger sound. The Ellington also has a new sound board that Glenn said widened the sound a bit. If anyone has ever thought about an Ellington trip and not done it yet, it is well worth it. Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at my home for Webb, Tom Comet, Les James Lester, and any of the fine guitar players I've seen over the years.

Snake - YOU ROCK!
This has been about the crappiest day up until now --THANKS - I can't wait!
The Ellington is downtown Lburg right? My stompin' grounds are just east of there (Appomattox) - so though I've never been there - I think I know where it is.....

I am with Snake. The Ellington is one of the most interesting places to see Webb. No place has more energy during a show than the fans in Lynchburg. Also, it is the perfect motorcycle riding distance from our house. There is a nice Holiday Inn just down the road a mile or so.

Christina-

Yep, the Ellington is on Rivermont, just a few blocks west of the Texas Inn (where Main Street turns into Rivermont.)

Also, my father was born in Spout Spring! In honor of Appomattox County, I'm giving Captain Howdy a rest and have reinstated my old avatar, a picture of my great-grandfather who was the first superintendent of the public schools in Appomattox County.

Snake -

Like the new avatar, cool history!! - I miss the old stompin grounds but I think I prefer the Star City for sure. Webb never played Appomattox :( Of course, we didn't really have anyplace to play either.....

I thought the Ellington might be close to the Tea Room - I might have to forget the diet for a night and stop off for a cheezy western after the show. That's an interesting place.... (Texas Inn)

That 's Snakes: Old / New Avatat -- pulled it out of the basement like one of his old records -- he used it for a while about a year ago Chrissy... can't remember what he had last -but my fav is the Zombie avatar....

And if you like Avatar surfing - try keeping up with Omatic - sometimes changes daily... In fact, you've been slacking on the new ones here lately Mike-O

I've only been around this board since March... BUT I am looking forward to seeing many more of Snake's and Omatics avatars. I have to pick one too... I guess I'll work on that one.

Eric- the "zombie" is Captain Howdy, the evil entity from "The Exorcist." That picture of him was just flashed briefly, almost subliminally, a couple of times in the movie. Those were the only times he appeared on screen.

It was either on here or some other group that I very briefly used a Charles Manson avatar, but that was going too far even by my standards and I caught some flak for it.

I thought that's what you had on there last - and I do remeber you having ole' charlie on here once upon a time... I imagine it could cause some to get a little freaked out by it. And I didn't realize that about "Cap'n Howdy" ... thought it was a zombie from a George Romero or Sam Raimi flick... (I think I misspelled Raimi or Raimy or Ramie... y'know the Spiderman guy - tha did the Evil Dead movies.)

No worries Christina... I remember you being new to the board... I just felt compelled to comment on our 2 favorite avatar changers...so to speak..... I'm usually pretty lazy with mine too. I've had a couple or three but usually leave them for long periods of time the same. Always fun to see what Omatic and Snake might come up with next. (especially Mike-O ... find us another cool one mikey.... although I do like Animal too... especially the PETA reference)

Yeah, Eric, I really should update. Been just too busy with work + life for that sort of thing lately, I guess.

By the way, anytime y'all want to see ALL the avatars people have, check the board roster. It's a link in the navigation area of the Search page, or just click this:
