Subject: Webb Fest IV
Webb Fest IV will be held in Bowling Green, Kentucky this year on Saturday October 3rd at the Capitol Arts Theater. This year we are partnering with Karen Hume, Director of the Capitol Arts Alliance, Bryan Locke of WDNS Radio in Bowling Green and the usual suspects: Hunter Goatley, Dolly & Jim Chandler, Dori & Mike McCalvin, Eric McCracken, and the Man himself, Webb Wilder along with agent extraordinaire-Nancy Lewis-Pegel. It has been a team effort by all the above to get this set up.

The Capitol Arts Theater is a beautiful venue with 800 seats. The floor slants up toward the back so that all 600 floor seats are good seats and there is a balcony that holds 200 more seats. They are giving us 250 seats in the front and center of the theater and the Capitol Arts Alliance will sell the remaining 550 seats.

We are going to do tickets a little differently this year. Traditionally about 30% of the tickets we send out are not used. To remedy that, we will be charging our folks a mere $5.00 for each ticket this year. This is not done as a profit-making scheme but rather to ensure that the tickets get used. The show is still free for us Webb Board folks because the tickets we send out will have a little stamp of our own which will entitle the bearer to redeem them at the SWAG table for a full $5.00 worth of SWAG (Tee-Shirts, CDs, DVDs etc.).

We will be able to get in early, before the general public, so that we can do our door prizes, mingle and socialize with each other a little, and occupy our choice seats before everyone else arrives.

What all this means is that we need to have you folks reserve your tickets early this year so that we have all 250 of them reserved as soon as possible. Then the Capitol Arts folks can start selling their tickets & people will not come to this site to get free tickets rather than purchase them in Bowling Green. We will announce on the Webb Board when our tickets will be available to reserve and Mr. Mike Omatic will, no doubt, provide us with another email address to use to order the tickets. In order to get tickets through us, you have to have been a Webb-Board Member prior to the date the tickets are advertised here, or a person who has ordered tickets for Webb Fest I, II, or III.

We plan on raffling off an autographed Bass Guitar this year, which Mr. Tom Comet may agree to play on for a song or two. As usual there will be door prizes, a video and whatever other Tomfoolery we can think of between now and then.

Dori and Mike McCalvin are already in the process of securing a couple hotels willing to make us a good deal on rooms for the night of the show.

Stay tuned for more details.

The email address will be "WebbFanFest2009(at)WebbWilder.com" and in fact, that is already active.

As for here on the Webb-site, additional details in the form of a dedicated event page, a Tour Dates page listing, and a News page item are all in the works. Boo-yah!!

Cheers,

The plan also includes catering by Wah Bah Steakhouse:

http://www.myspace.com/whabahs

I attended a D93 Block Party with Rufus Huff (Greg Martin's newest band) a couple of weeks ago, and Wah Bah was there serving burgers and ribeye sandwiches. I had one of the latter, and it was awesome. I assume they'll be offering similar fare for Webb Fest.

Tater, Eric, Hunter, Bryan Locke and myself all gathered in BG to check all this out and it's a really cool setting: all American town square with a beautiful kind of "village green"/common area/park right in the middle, shops and restaraunts all around, cool old theater. Very "Norman Rockwell." It's gonna ROCK! Hope you all can come. WW

Mike McCalvin was with us that weekend too and he thought it was THE place to do this event. With Bryan Locke's help, I believe we can fill every seat in this beautiful hall.

And as usual I won't be able to make it. I'm still hoping for a Nebraska gig to show up sometime. I vowed to myself that I would not listen to any Webb until he came back to NE. Got the new cd sittin' around waiting to be listened to. Starting to look like the July appearance in K.C. is the next time I'm gonna see Webb. What a wait....

I'm really not sure. I know she's talked to the guy. Despite the FANTASTIC fans there, it is kinda really on the extreme Western rim of our normal nomadic wanderings. Wouldn't be so bad if we were on our way to the golden state or somewhere but, that hasn't been the case since 1995, although I do think we played Denver in '97! Wow!. WW

Folks, Please mark your calenders for October 3rd. You have 5 months to get ready, plenty of time. I have visited this theater and it is one CLASSY place. Built in the 20s to 30s and fairly recently renovated. I send my thanks to Hunter Goatley for finding this GEM of a venue! Ms.Karen Hume for being so easy to work with. To the voice of Bowling Green, Mr. Bryan Locke of WDNS who will be the voice Webb Fest IV. Bryan, you are the key to this coming together. And to Jim Chandler for his dedication, 10 hour drives, SO many phone calls and e-mails and his unmatched perseverance to see this come to beautiful new relationship with Bowling Green and Webb Fest! This will hopefully become the home of Webb Fest for years to come. Fellow Wilderians, this will be the best Webb Fest ever and you are in for a real treat! Dori & I are looking forward to seeing all of you there,
Mike

"Whip that boy and you'll answer to me!"
As they used to say on the "A-Team" - I love it when a plan comes together.

Tater and I kept saying that this could get bigger and bigger each year and with the support of the fine folks in BG... Hunter, Bryan....et al. This year is going to be the biggest yet... WOW. I'm just happy to be a part of starting something this cool... fer our Hero hisself.

Oh and the real reason we announced it early (other then the obvious reasons of getting the Webb faithful here on the board proper notice) was to make sure Ken Drew could be onsite...LOL, but if ya' didn't know he is the creator of the original WW website (before this one became the official site) and a true Wilderian Scholar - glad you'll be able to make it this time Ken. Of course this means we'll have Ken and Hunter Goatley BOTH in attendance - need official word from Mike O and we'll have all the "Big Time" Cyberspace WW founders in house....

Stay tuned Y'all ... we'll keep you informed as things progress ... I think the last time Tater was this excited was when he married Dolly....LOL.

Bryan Locke is the goods. Without his foresight this event wouldn't have materialized. He was the first to suggest the Capitol, and definitely went the extra mile to get the ball rollin'. Thanx to Bryan and all the others associated with it for everything.

The closest airport is the Nashville, TN, airport. It's about an hour's drive from there to Bowling Green. There are shuttles (taxi service) that make that run, too.

How do I get tickets? Are the $5 tix still available. Webb played a song for my son on his 13th birthday at 3 & L a couple of years ago. ROCK ON!!!

I read Hunter's message about catering (dead, cooked, singed or burnt animals of course). Will there be any vegan options available. What about adult beverages??? That's where dark and roasted comes into play!

I know this is a dead thread but does anyone on the "committee" know if we will be allowed to bring our own food? As if finding a vegan or vegetarian restaurant in Kentucky would be easier than Houston! I'm pretty sure if this is catered, the only option would be green salad, as if that's all my kind eats...
