Very cool, Webb.

I go more for the deciduous varieties because I like to see them change color in the fall, but the blue spruce is certainly worthy of admiration.

Here's Clint Eastwood on the subject of trees:

Beautiful!

The trees around St. Louis are doing a lot better this year. The summer of '13 was really challenging for them...drought and lots of extreme heat.
We also saw a lot more Monarch butterflies and Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds this year. Some of them are still hanging around, fueling up for their migration. Good luck on your flight to Central America, little guys!

My wife and I were happy for 30 years. Then we met each other.

I think that I shall never see,
A jelly donut as cellulose and lignin-filled as a tree.

Ogden Nash (my favorite poet) wrote this poem before Lady Bird Johnson got freaked out by that automobile graveyard next to the B/W Parkway and started pushing for Highway Beautification:

The Song of the Open Road

I think that I shall never see,
A billboard lovely as a tree,
Indeed, unless the billboards fall,
I'll never see a tree at all,

But film-maker John Waters wrote:

What would you rather look at, some dumb tree or a larger-than-life cutout of Buddy Hackett?
