Did I sleep through a century or something? Can any one explain to me how in the hell "Do You Think I'm Sexy" should be played on an oldies station? I couldn't believe it.

Oldies, just like any radio format, is a moving target. That song is from 1978. 35 years old! That's an oldie. Time marches on...

When I was a kid in the '70s, "oldies" were songs that were anywhere from 5 to 20 years old, so 35 definitely qualifies.

Well ... although I do understqand where you are coming from ... I just can't see anything in the 80's being an "oldie"
Not as far as rock and roll is concerned.. HOWEVER, I guess the big compaint on my part is Do you think I'm Sexy is crap not matter how old it is.
The station did kinda redeem itself when I heard " Long Cool Woman in A Black Dress" which by the standards you guys listed isn't an oldie either.. but is one of the best songs ever recorded.. in my not so humble opinion!!!

"Long Cool Woman" is great. "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" is fluff. At this point, both are oldies but, (IMHO) they are NOT both "goldies!" WW

"Long Cool Woman" is a great song in a cover band scenario. Always goes over great. But seeing a group of fat, middle aged men attempting "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy"?......Not so much,......unless there is a projectile vomiting contest!!!!

I wouldn't call DYTIS an old-ee. I'd call it a crap-ee. But then, in general, I gave up on radio being something important years ago. Radio had every chance to stay iconic, but hey, if they wanna drop the ball that's their gig. Now if all radio stations were like the one Bryan Locke programs in Bowling Green, I'd be a fan for life. Where else in terrestrial radio can you call in a request for a Be Bop Deluxe or Wishbone Ash song... AND IT GETS PLAYED.
