Subject: question for Webb Wilder or other Nashville folks
My wife and I are traveling to Nashville this weekend and want to go out to a cool music joint to see some live music on Saturday night. We were hoping to see Webb, of course, but he's elsewhere (and we will be seeing him on the 21st at the Zoo Bar in Lincoln--pick up on it!), or Hillbilly Casino, but they are also on the road. So, Webb, or other Nashvegans, could you give us some advice of who we should see for a night of shennanigans And what would be some options of great music venues with some character?

Well, I don't know who is playing in town this weekend off the top of my head but, I'd say to check the websites for: 3rd and Lindsley, The Basement, The Family Wash, The Station Inn, The Mercy Lounge, The High Watt, the Cannery, The 5 Spot, The Stone Fox, The Ryman Auditorium, The Franklin Theater, etc. WW

Webb, thank you for the quick reply. I checked out 3rd and Lindsley's website and saw that The Long Players are doing Rod Stewart's "Every Picture Tells a Story." That sounds damn good to me as it's about as good a rock and roll album as I've ever heard (the best would be "Exile on Main Street") and from what I've been able to check out about the Long Players, they are top session musicians with very good musical taste shown in what they have performed in the past. Would you agree with that assessment? I trust your judgement and have followed your advice for quite some time.

I read enough about the Long Players so that, even without my spiritual adviser WW's confirmation, I purchased two tickets for us. Thank you, Tommy Lee, for making me feel good about this, with a hellaciously poemy poem and also for acknowledging the wisdom of my spiritual adviser selection.

Sublime, Tommy Lee, sublime!
I'm not surprised that ye can rhyme
"Every Picture Tellas a story, don't it?"
Won't this be a splendid time? Now won't it?

As you both may know I'm a huge fan of the Faces and Rod's Faces era solo work. "Doy Think I'm Sexy?"...not so much. At any rate, I am not on this show (have been on several other LP soirees) but, it will be a good one. The newly renovated 3rd & L. is the bees knees as well so, it'll be real cool. Enjoy!

The Long Players album recreation is a fantastic concept. I wish someone, on this side of the pond, would 'Pick up on it'

Susan Cowsill and her band do something similar in New Orleans, they call it "Covered in Vinyl".

Susan Cowsill is still working in music? Well, how about that? Good for her.

Her "...and spaghettiiiiiii-eeee!" line in their cover of "Hair" used to annoy the hell out of my friend Gilbert.

Susan used to be in the Continental Drifters, has put out a couple of excellent solo albums, plays regularly in New Orleans and tours when possible. We've seen her and her band several times and they're great live. The music is sorta modern folk rock.
She's a lot of fun to talk to and sings like an angel who smokes.

Webb and Tommy, we had a great time
Long Players were truly sublime
Relived Rod Stewart's greatness
Only dingbats could hate this!

The meter here is a bit less than elegant
But Amy and I are darn glad we went!

Thanks for the great advice and see you at the Zoo Bar in Lincoln Sunday evening!
