Subject: Why Bands Are Going Broke Touring
Good article, and true. My days of touring are long since over with, but I remember how tight things were on the road years ago. Nice to see some things never change.

Brilliant!
Brilliant!
I can sympathize! Money is made all along the food chain, with the artist the one footing the bill for the party. At a club, their production bill gets paid - and I have had nights (not w/Webb) where we had to pay that out of our pocket because not enough was raised by the door. The ultimate pay to play. Sound man gets paid, person who presses CD's gets paid, so does the T-shirt maker. Graphic artist for CD's, recording engineer, publicist - yep - fee for service. But the band.....many folks consider them just havin' too much fun to be needing money on top of it I guess.

Not to whine, you folks are the ultimate supporters of live music and WW. When we say we couldn't do it without you - that is not just a figure of speech. Y'all make it worthwhile.

Confused? I am!
Confused? I am!
Does that mean that 99% of people are musicians?

Same amount of talent there always was, just way too many wishin' they had it? Ha

And with the huge glut of musicians, clubs don't have to pay much, and no one along the 'food chain' has to drop their percentages. Too many kids who don't care about making money... they just wanna go out on the road and party. Muddys the water for the class acts like WW, Hiatt, Waits etc. etc.

Good article and discussion. Well worth a read. I will try to make sure I buy more merchandise from the smaller bands.
Cheers
