46 years ago today, I joined Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane & Kenney Jones in the Small Faces. And, 42 years ago today, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones, Ronnie Wood, Rod Stewart and I signed with Warner Bros Records as Faces. And wait, there's even more..... 36 years ago today, Faces played our final show in Minneapolis at the Labor Temple. 1965-1975. I'd say it's time for a pint of Vitamin G!

Believe it or not, I've come to realize that the Bee Gees are very unique and talented artists but, son...they couldn't ROCK at gunpoint! They're in there. Jimmy Cliff is Reggae but, I'm GLAD he's in there. It's pretty wild to consider the shore 'NUFF Rock and Roll folks who ARE NOT in there. The Small Faces and the Faces were two of the GREATEST Rock and Roll bands of all time. Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio, perhaps THE hardest rockin' and best of all the first generation Rockabilly bands(covered by The Yardbirds and Aerosmith) are NOT in there. Wow. WW

The Small Faces and the Faces should be in, but as seperate groups. Warren Zevon is not in. Humble Pie isn't in.
Albert King isn't in. Fred Below isn't in. Don Covay, nope. Madonna is!!! But I still have hope. After all, it took a while, but Tom Waits and Bobby Womack made it!

Cheap Trick isn't in there either :(

One has to keep in mind that it's the "Rock & Roll Hall of FAME", not the "Rock & Roll Hall of Really Good Rock & Roll Music".


Actually, a more accurate name for it would be something like the "Rock & Roll Hall of Interesting Memorabilia to Look At and Related Merchandise to Purchase".

Fred Below who played drums on most or all of the CHUCK BERRY records...come ON! Cheap Trick...no brainer. Small and Faces definitely two different but, related groups. Humble Pie, that's a shame. Because neither Small Faces nor Humble Pie is in there, then Steve Marriot is not in there. CRAZY! Without Marriot, there would be NO bluesy, tenor Brit Rock vocal tradition. Yeah, the museum is cool but, the entity that controls the Hall of Fame honors and stuff is separate. WW

Of course, if it WAS the "Rock & Roll Hall of Really Good Rock & Roll Music", Webb Wilder and the Beatnecks would have been inducted by now.

First concert I saw late 60s, Humble Pie opened for Grand Funk. Steve Marriott stepped to the left several feet of the mic, and you could still clearly hear him signing throughout the auditorium. He had a real set of pipes. And if Rockin The Fillmore isn't one of the Bibles of early hard rock, nothing is. But Abba, Leonard Cohen, Madonna, Grandmaster Flash, Miles Davis, Herb Albert, OJays, Percy Sledge are inducted, and so far not Marriott.

BTW Webb killer comment "the Bee Gees... couldn't ROCK at gunpoint!"
