Subject: Which tracks on "More Like Me" are covers?
I bought the album in MP3 format off Amazon, and without a booklet I have no songwriting credits. There was a News item on the site that said the album has 7 covers, and it then listed 6 artists that were covered. I've tracked down those 6, but don't know which of the remaining songs is a cover, or who the 7th artist covered is. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Phil

Here are the covers: Ju Ju Man, Don't Slander Me, Honky Tonkin' (In Mississippi), Sudden Stop, She Said Yeah, Still Water Runs Deep, and Changing Colors.

Webb wrote (or co-wrote, I believe) Too Cool For Love, She's Not Romantic, Pretty Is As Pretty Does, Come Around, and More Like Me

Which of the covers are you interested in knowing about?

No co-writes. Wrote those five. "Changing Colors" was recorded by Jim Ford (a great songwriter) but, he didn't write it. Susanna Jordan or somebody? "She Said Yeah" was originally done by Larry Williams, one of the great singer songwriters and artists (architect) of the early Rock and Roll but, in the case of this one...did not write it. This version owes a debt to the Stones interpretation. "Sudden Stop" was first recorded by Percy Sledge. Interestingly enough, it was written by Bobby Russell ("Hioney," "Little Green Apples). I first heard "Ju Ju Man" by Dave Edmunds but, others have done it. Jim Ford co-write it with some guys from Redbone? "Don't Slander Me" is by the totally original and idiosincratic, Roky Ericsson. Webb, we've been wondering if you have come up with any new songs recently. A new album, something even MORE like you, would be warmly embraced by the Loving Public. Cover songs are always welcome, but there's nothing like the Real Webb stuff. Certainly wouldn't want to put any PRESSURE on you, of course, that might not be conducive to the continuation of your characteristic musical excellence.

While I'm being so demanding, Patrice has requested something that ROCKS. Yes, she's been drinking a lot of coffee.

I'd like to throw my two-cents worth in....Webb could do a wicked cover of Creedence's "It Came Out of the Sky"!

This is the part where I always advocate for "Wild One" as a cover.

Subject: who plays guitar on which tracks?
I've wanted to know who is playing guitar on the songs of this release. I know there were a few but who does what where?

Joe and I did an awful lot of it. George plays one of the two solos on "Slander." The other one is me. Joe, George and I are all in there on that one. Bob plays on three songs: "JuJu" (solo and fills) "Changing Colors (pedal steel and some of the clean electric) and "Pretty Is" (electric sitar and twelve string). I think that's right. May have sold someone short. Usually me! Gi-tar good. Me like! WW

I'm pretty sure that's all right except Bob MAY have played some acoustic on "Pretty Is?" Can't quite remember. Maybe if I actually LISTENED to it...WW

Some new stuff would be good. Or at least some stuff with a bit of balls to it. The last album was too wishy-washy for me. It may be more like you, but it aint like Webb. (No offence)
Colin.
