Subject: Pinetop Perkins R.I.P.
Probably my favorite piano bluesman.
I remember years ago listening to a killer blues festival on NPR,
Pinetop was playing in the band of one of the headliners,
and was flat out kicking butt on the ivories.

I saw him in the 80's, he sat in with the Nighthawks. He was "old" then ... 97 years is a lot of blues. RIP indeed.

I saw him in Muddy Waters' band on a bill with Johnny Winter and James Cotton at DAR Constitution Hall in 1977.

Great show.

RIP Pinetop.

He was somethin' else. We played Antone's in 2005 the week "About Time" was released as part of the Americana Music Associations SXSW show. Pine was there diggin' all the ladies, dressed to the nines with a big smile on his face. WW

Definitely had a full life. I never got a chance to see him play but heard his stuff for years. Great player. R.I.P.

Saw him with Muddy Waters' band at Bogart's in Cincinnati back in 1977--good show at a horrible venue. RIP, Pinetop.
