We got to Jim Porters on Friday early enough to see the Dallas Cole Band open for Webb and then Webb, Jimmy, Tom and Bob took the stage about 8:15PM for one long set for about 2 hours worth of Great music. We saw Mr. Hunter Goatley, Mike and Dori McCalvin, Malcom Tuck, Glen Steinkamp and John Kaspermeyer, from St. Louis (who videoed the entire show), and a packed house of Webb fans, some driving from Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana and parts West. Jimmy said he was feeling ill before the show but an ill Jimmy Lester is still better than most drummers on a good day! Way to hang there Mr. Lester. Webb remembered that it was my birthday this weekend and was very gracious in mentioning it without the chronological number that goes along with it. Tom and Bob played their normal top-quality performances. Webb seemed to be in very good spirits and it shows through in his music, very upbeat and positive. One thing I noticed and so did Mike McCalvin is that there are usually folks in attendance that represent a 2 or 3 generational family group of Webb Fans. Several folks in the audience had come from far away and brought their sons or dads and grandparents to the show. That speaks highly of a musician when parents have played this music for their children and pass on the legacy of being Webb Fans. It is good, clean, family entertainment that never fails to please. I wish we could have travelled on to Chicago but could not fit it into our work schedules. I know that, if Jimmy lived through the night Saturday, the band put on a great show for those folks too! Thanks again Webb!!!

Nice writeup, Tater! Sounds like a whole lot of fun was had by all...maybe not as much by Jimmy, I guess. I'm glad he could Tough It Out and hope he's feelin' better.

Hey Tater, thanks for telling us about Friday's show. I was at Fitzgeralds, and couldn't see any evidence that Jimmy hadn't been feeling well. He was in top form, as were all the guys. I was standing right next to Bob's edge of the stage, and I swear there were times his fingers were just a blur. I thought it was one of my favorite Fitzgeralds performances ever.

Thank you Webb, and all the band, for doing what you do. It can't always be easy or fun living in a van and a motel on so many weekends, but it sure means alot to us who NEED you, and it's always, Always a pleasure to see you again.

I was happy to not only be one of the travellers to see the show, I had my two kids there as well. They have different music tastes, but were happy to see Webb again. Both enjoyed the music and my daughter, my ex-wife and myself really enjoyed the great dance floor. Hope to see you guys again at T&L in Nashville.
