Subject: Yet another new Webb Wilder Video - Flat Out Get It
Yep, he's done it again - only this time Steve Mims gives us a slice of WW history. Here is a newly posted video of a song from Acres of Suede - "Flat Out Get It" ... that was part of a feature film Steve made that had Webb in it - the movie did appear on showtime and was called The Perfect Specimen.

Made for a pretty cool video, note the Beatnecks were WW, Tom, Joe V and looks like Brian Owings on drums.

Here is a link.

Thanks Eric! I have always thought Webb should open the shows with this song. :-)

Agreed! That is a perfect set-opener for WW and kudos to Mr. Mims for the nice editing job and sending it out in the world on its own. Great set and lighting, too!

I still have the Rickenbacker, which is the less common single pickup version. I intend to always keep it for several reasons besides the fact that I really like it.
I got it new in 1974 in a spectacularly bad deal- I traded my Gibson EB-2 and the pink paisley Fender Telecaster Bass I had bought from my college roommate for $85, plus maybe $100 cash. What can I say? I was a hippie, not a businessman, and obviously very little has changed since then! I still have the receipt somewhere; I think I had to borrow the $100 from Amy. I reckon I'm about $10,000 upside down on that deal these days...
But I loved it, and have used it many times over the years, most notably to record the first major label LP I got to play on way back in 1978, Marshall Chapman's "Jaded Virgin". Incidentally, I found out later it's identical to the one used by Ed King on "Pronounced: Leh-nerd Skin-nerd", and both records were produced by Al Kooper.

Tom the tale of your trade had me in stiches. You traded two highly collectible basses for that Ric...and the guy made you give him a hundred bucks to seal the deal. Wow! What a ripoff artist!

I do happen to have a nice bass for sale right now, it's a Brooklyn. You'll like it, it's asphalt color with rust highlights and yellow pinstripes and is already strung with heavy-gauge strings. Call for pricing!
