What a great night of rock and roll!! The evening started at 7:00 PM with a young man named Jake Haldenwang. He is a 13 year old guitar player from Charlotte, NC. You can tell he is a fan of blues plus a little Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He has been playing for a little over three years and with some more time and practice under his belt, he will be quite an artist.
Next up at 8:00 was Tom Hambridge and the Rattlesnakes. If these guys come to a town near you, do yourself a favor and go see them. They are a rock solid band of great musicians with great material. Tom has a website and a myspace so check him out. He has a new album out called "Boogeyman" that Susan and I listened to on the way home today. Great stuff!! I love the song "Corndog" and if "Shoebox" doesn't get to ya, then you don't have a heart.
Then at 9:00, Webb Wilder and the Beatnecks took the stage. Joining them on drums was Nashville studio great, Greg Morrow. I have heard him on a bunch of albums, and it was a joy to see and hear him play live. He can waylay a set of drums. Webb and the guys were in fine form going out over the airwaves of WRLT live. Webb sang and played great. I marvel at his quick thinking and wit during the adlibs between songs. The ultimate show man! Bob Williams was....well......awesome!! This guy impresses me no matter how many times I see him. Great to see you and Mrs. Williams again Bob. Tom Comet RULES as the master of GLAM PIZZAZZ FUZZBASS!! I thought a couple of times he was gonna wring the neck right off of the Longhorn. Incredible as usual.
We missed ya Jimmy, but I am sure you know your spot was in good hands. See ya at the Down Home.
Thanks to everyone for a great night of music. Y'all never fail to deliver.
