Subject: Our database committed suicide today!
Earlier today, we suffered a catastrophic failure of the database that drives this website. Of course, this took out the Webb Board faster than Elvis took out Priscilla on their first date.

It was so bad (the database failure, not EP+PP's first date) that I wasn't even able to log into my administrative tools long enough to investigate the problem. Naturally, this badly impeded recovery.

The root cause of the disaster is unknown (cue the Theremin sound effects). In the end, I started fresh and restored an auto-generated backup, which luckily was *so* recent that I don't think we even lost any data. For what it's worth, we were down from sometime after 11:30am until about 20 minutes ago.

Please report any problems on this thread. And keep your fingers crossed that this doesn't happen again. You can bet your butt I'll be making extra backups for a while.

Thanks, loyal WW fans, and good luck to us all.

Thanks Bruno.

I would love to come next week, but it's not looking good. Lousy weather and a stomach virus over the holidays caused my family to reschedule all our get-togethers. I'm tentatively on the hook for that, so I can't commit. If I get lucky, a Berwyn road-trip could happen, but chances are minimal. Which sucks, because I'm overdue.

If you DO spot me there though, c'mon over and say hi, fer shure, eh? (said the guy with the Jeff Spicoli avatar).

I hope you can make it, of course family is always first..Thats what I say at work.

You getting any weather tonight??? Have another round of snow just about to hit, 2-4 inches on top of what was dropped Monday night and since Monday nights blizzard warning failed to materialized we now have a blizzard watch scheduled for Wedneday night/Thursday morning.

I can deal with it, as long as the weather is clear on the 24th.

Just a boatload of cold, and I hear it's gonna get windy too. As for snow, we got 3-4" last night. Light stuff, should be a drifty mess before long.

MIke: Dolly and I are thinking of making the Chicago trip. It'd be a shame to drive that far and not get to party with Mike Omatic!!!!

I had the privilege of driving home from work in the snow at 1:30 in morning....since I don't take the interstate anymore, heck saves me 80 cents in tolls, I take the chances on the local highways, which sometimes are better then the interstate, just have to watch out for the deer. Stopped snowing just after lunch time here, now comes the onset of wind and cold....Chicago is looking at -35 wind chills starting tonight and going all the way until Friday afternoon. Lets hope that a "normal" winter returns for Webbs arrival on the 24th.

Tater, it would be a honor to meet you at Fitzgeralds on the 24th if you make it.

Many regards

It don't look like we'll make it to Chicago due to some Tater Tot committments. Bruno, we will be there this year. We're shooting for the next Webb Wilder event at Fitzgeralds!!!!!

Just ignore that name on the above post. That Lamma guy must have hacked into my computer when I wasn't looking!
What he said (as Big Goober would say)!
