Lately I've been staying at the Quality Inn just off I-26 on the north side of town, mainly because I get frequent sleeper points with them and their affiliated chains on my business travel, so I can usually stay for free. It's not real close to the DH, but there's a nice back way from it to downtown.

It ain't the Ritz, but it is a functional motel.

There's a Holiday Inn (or HI Express, i forget which) close to it, where Tater used to stay until he Led Zeppelinized his room a couple of years ago.

They still don't know about that Keith Moon stayover at the Holiday Inn. Actually, the Holiday Inn, just off 26 N, is about five miles from the Down Home. We take a cab to and from the bar and it only costs about $7.00 each way and they will take 4 passengers at that price. They have a nice pool and the rooms are nice. They even have a complimentary computer you can use in the lobby to update the Webb Board between shows at the Down Home.
Another great feature about Johnson City is that I can have "local-boy-makes-good" Eric McCracken buy tickets for me for the show. (I'll take six this year Eric for both nights.)

Woo hoo! Thanks, Tater!

Donna Leigh: It shouldn't be a problem at all to bring a guitar into the Down Home. My boyfriend brought one of his basses to the Down Home and asked Tom to sign it. He went out to the car and got it after the show. However, if you don't want to leave yours in the car until after the show, you might ask if you can leave it behind the swag table--if there is room--during the show. I wouldn't recommend trying to store it near your table, because the Down Home becomes quite crowded down on the main floor, and I am rather clumsy, so if I am passing by and trip over the case, I might fall headfirst onto the stage and destroy a perfectly good drum skin or a Hondo bass, not to mention do some damage to your own guitar, which would not at all be pretty and would upset a lot of people and injure my pride and further impair my ability to forgive myself for my transgressions. Of course, you might consider a booth seat instead. The Down Home is a great place, so just grab your guitar and come on!
