Steve Pick wrote in today's Post-Dispatch:
"I won't budge, I won't change, I'll tough it out," sings Webb Wilder, in what might as well be his second credo. (His first, "Work hard, rock hard, eat hard, sleep hard, grow big, wear glasses if you need 'em" is legendary among his fans.) If you saw Wilder at Mississippi Nights in 1986, you wouldn't be surprised by anything he's doing on his new live album, "Born to Be Wilder". He's still playing rock 'n' roll songs with a country twist, or country songs with a rock 'n' roll heart. And he's still walking a thin line between hilarity and passion. As Wilder sings in "Tough It Out": "We don't leave the hall / Till they're bouncing off the walls / Going wild, wild, wild."

Just wanted to say that I attended this show with my 3-year-old son. That's right, he's a 3-year-old Webb Wilder fan! When we watch Webb's concert DVD, he straps on a toy guitar and pretends he's Webb.

Anyway, we sat near the back and my son wore protective headphones. He was mesmerized and loved every minute (though we had to leave a little early because he tired out - usually goes to bed at 8:30!). Every once in a while, he would look at me with this priceless grin! He loves it when Webb twirls his hat. His first question to me the next morning was, "Why didn't Webb Wilder say 'Cock-a-doodle-doo, thank you' at the end of 'Down on the Farm?' Funny!

Now for a more adult review of the show. The band rocks! So tight! The only flaw I noticed was Webb forgetting the words on "Meet Your New Landlord." I don't think many people noticed. In fact, I don't know how many people knew of him before the show. One person asked where they were from in between songs.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the quality of music this band performs and how much I admire their willingness to bring it to the fans. Can't wait to see them again.

Hey weberto, I saw you as you were leaving. Your son looked cute in those headphones! See ya next time--just ask whomever is selling swag to point out Tommy & Pammy Lee and we'll meet up.
