I was looking at pics and thinking about Webbfest and such, and noticed that I have seen maybe one or two guitars in your possesion that has a tremelo. Not that I expect divebombs to ever become part of the scene, but is that just personal choice or do you, like me, hate the tuning and other troubles they bring. I think that custom with your name does have a Bigsby, and maybe one of those Vs.

Yeah, I like Bigsbys but, they don't always like me! Tuning a half step flat can cause a lack of tension on aGibson with a short scale. A Bigsby can compund that. The black guitar is a Country Gent with a Bigsby. It has the long scale but, not a lot of tension. The Lonnie Mack V alway worked pretty well...just haven't taken it out in a while. Thanks, Bart. WW

I had forgotten about the half step. That would increase the problems even swapping string guages to compensate.

I could not find a tele with a trem in any picture and that is what got me thinking since you play so many of them.

I can't use them at all. I had the only one I own blocked and still wish it was just hardtailed. Hate to have been EVHs guitar tech.

What's the advantage of tuning down a half step?

They tune down to match Webb's singing voice. So he doesn't strain something on those high notes. :)

Rock and Roll(and country for that matter) guitar doesn't sound right if you have to play in certain keys. G, A, D and E are all "open" chords. All singers have keys that they sing in better than others. For some reason mine likes A flat quite a bit! When we play an A chord it's really A flat but, you get the same ratio of open to "closed" strings you would if it were truly A...a half step lower. Confued now? Bluesman, Hendrix, Beatles and Stone(yes! LIVE...check yer DVDS) have all done it. Hair bands often tune and tuned down sometimes a whole step or more in hopes of hittin' those "golden god" notes. Basically, I'm a foghorn who likes to rock! WW
