My wife and I were happy for 30 years. Then we met each other. | Subject: Guest posting now requires CAPTCHA check Recently some miscreant has been posting GOBS of irrelevant links on the Webb Board. Some are to malware sites, some are smut, some are just junk. But what they ALL have in common is that I DELETE them. Which wastes my time. Which makes me unhappy!
As a result, it's become necessary to make a small change to the posting process. There is now a CAPTCHA check required for guests to post here.
For those not familiar with CAPTCHA, it stands for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart." But, all that big fancy name *really* means is that you have to read some wonky-lookin' words and type 'em into a field on the posting form. Not a big deal by any stretch, but it does help to separate humans from malevolent programs.
Note that Webb Board members will NOT see this field on the posting form, at least not at this time. Their password assures their identity. As always, guests to the Webb Board are encouraged to join us. It's free, and we don't send you any emails unless you explicitly opt in for them. Plus, members can upload their own avatars, if so inclined. And of course, your friends and family will be green with envy!! So sign up today!
Any questions (or if you just want to try it out), feel free to post on this thread. I'll answer any questions ASAP.

My wife and I were happy for 30 years. Then we met each other. | Well, we had a good run. I've been operating the site five years this summer without too much shenanigans going on. But the time has come to add something to prevent the "wide open barn door" effect. I just hope it works for a good long time! I would not be thrilled about being forced to bar guests from posting, and neither would Webb.

But somehow I figure she's got something better to do.

I can't believe that you guys still have your panties in a wad over Elkie Brooks. That UK bunch is in a world of their own as are we. None of us can claim all knowing knowledge. Can't we just get along?
Really.
When is that new Webb release date? We can all agree on being excited about that. Hey, Webb Fest? Let me know. I need to start saving up for that.

Too early to worry about a CD release date, it would be fictional at this point anyway.
WebbFest date and time are still top secret, on a "need to know" basis. Early disclosure may result in waterboarding or the tavern version, beerboarding. We're gonna start saving for gas right now.
