How 'bout The Dave Edmunds Band on "The Fishin' Musician" segment of SCTV! WW

The Frank Zappa episode of the Monkees where Frank and Mike change places. Very uh groovy.

And anytime I see Alice Cooper playing golf.

Kudos to WW for hitting the SCTV vein first! When they went 90 minutes on NBC they incorporated a w-i-d-e variety of musical acts into their comedy. Some were live, some lip synced but everyone got pulled into the comedy! Everyone from The Boomtown Rats [again] in a great parody of From Sir With Love to classical violinist Eugene Fodor in a spoof of Humoresque. But so far no one has mentioned the B-52s in their Guiding Light soap opera appearance!

Pardon my impudence, Webb, but if there's anything I like as much as Rock & Roll, it's SCTV. Dave Edmunds was in an even better sketch than the surreal Fishin' Musician series! Dave got to really stretch out as rockin' Com-symp JD Russ Riley in the fevered "I Was A Teenaged Communist!" Russ ropes all-American teen Eddie into his pal's cell of Commie werewolves seeking to undermine plain American values with rock & roll! Eugene Levy's turn as ringleader "Murray" looking just like Vladimir Lenin was potent stuff. Meanwhile, the Dave Edmunds Band performs "From Small Things, Big Things Surely Come" at the soda shoppe.

Sounds like raydium needs to join up, he's clearly one of us.

I forgot to mention Dave Edmunds' birthday yesterday, he's 64...hope he's doing OK.

Good to see some SCTV fans here. I gotta go with the Tubes on "Fishin' Musician."

How about Gene Simmons of KISS on Michael Douglas and Totie Fields was one of the guests. When Gene walks out in full garb, Totie says something to the effect of, "What if underneath all of that there was a nice Jewish boy?" Little did she know.

2 weeks ago , Pat Benatar and Neal Giraldo were on the ABC soap "Young and the Restless"...they were giving advice to one of the characters on how to "hit the bigtime"...

Southside Johnny was on SCTV too. He did music AND a comedy sketch from what I recall. Southside is a funny guy.

Another from a Webb and SCTV fan. Ed Grimley was in a bar and wanting to be "cool". After drinking a potent concoction he transformed into John Cougar. John and the band then played Hurts So Good, if memory serves me correct......

I always liked the guys on SCTV that was going to "blow it up , blow it up real good"

There's a great clip of Jimi Hendrix, Grace Slick and David Crosby with Dick Cavett. It's the morning after Woodstock ... and they clearly remain very silly/trippy, with Dick Cavett holding on to his professional interviewing style despite the inane behavior.

My local favorite - Root Boy Slim on "Panorama" hosted by Maury Povich(Mr. Connie Chung). Root Boy is sitting in between Sen. Jesse Helms and some high society lady. The intended purpose was to raise awareness of a local charity. Root Boy steered(monopolized) the conversation to topics including the physiology of paranoia and home remedies for jock itch.
